Rufus con calor, en el pasillo

Estas imágenes están grabadas en Julio, en el piso de Madrid, cuando hacía mucho calor.  Para luchar contra la canícula, los gatos se suelen tumbar en el suelo con la tripa pegada al rodapié para refrescarse.

These images have been recorded in Madrid´s flat in mid-July, when the weather was really hot.  To fight the heat, both cats sometimes lay down on the floor with their bellies touching the skirting board. 

Rufus cazando con la cara tapada

A Rufus le gusta acechar parapetado entre los pliegues de las sábanas.  Y hace como si estuviera cazando.  Pero esta vez ha metido la cabeza entera debajo de las sábanas y sin ver, me intenta agarrar el pie sin conseguirlo.

Rufus loves to lurk behind the folds of the bed linen.  As if he were hunting.  But this time he has tucked his head completely under the sheets and tries to "hunt" my foot in this manner, with no success.

Este es un metraje que no había utilizado en ningún vídeo anterior.  Se ve a Rufus y Lucas de bebés con su madre y hermanos.  Filmado con el iPhone en octubre de 2011

El nuevo rascador para felinos

Enero 2013 - El antiguo rascador que tenían se ha roto y para Reyes les hemos regalado uno nuevo.  En el vídeo están empezando a explorar el nuevo artilugio por primera vez.  Les gusta mucho los ratoncitos blancos colgantes que trae, aunque no sabemos lo que van a durar.  En la casita se meten de vez en cuando, sobre todo cuando les escondemos pelotitas de aluminio, con las que juegan a menudo.

The old "tree terrace" broke a few days ago, so for Christmas we decided to buy a new one as a present.  In the video they were testing the new tree for the first time.  They love the hanging white mice, but we are not sure how long they will last.  They get in the house to find the small tin balls we hide inside.

Ojos de gato

Rufus y Lucas se dejan grabar pacientemente estos primeros planos incluso cuando a veces casi les meto la cámara entre los ojos...

Saltos y Volteretas

A Lucas le encanta saltar en el aire para parar pelotas de aluminio que le tiramos contra las paredes.  A veces no cae bien y se da un golpetazo contra el suelo.  Hemos encontrado que esta es una de las mejores maneras para que haga algo de ejercicio.

Lucas loves to jump in the air and try to catch little tin balls that we throw against the walls.  Sometimes he lands clumsily and hits the floor in the wrong position.  We found this is one of the best ways for him to do some physical exercise.

Dos gatos hermanos jugando

Rufus y Lucas son buenos hermanos pero de vez en cuando se entretienen persiguiéndose y peleando entre sí.  Casi siempre es Rufus (el tigre) el que ataca, y Lucas se pone en posición defensiva con la tripa hacia arriba.  Pero a veces es Lucas el que empieza a incordiar a su hermano, y lleva la voz cantante en la pelea. Creo que es un buen ejercicio para practicar sus artes de defensa y ataque.

Rufus and Lucas are well behaved siblings, but from time to time they enjoy chasing each other and having a little fight.  Normally Rufus is the one that starts first, and Lucas takes a defensive position with his belly up.  But other times, Lucas is starts to annoy his brother and in this case, he takes the lead in the whole affair.  I find this is a good exercise for them to practice attack and defense tactics!

Las Volteretas de Felicidad

A veces estoy ocupada haciendo cosas por la casa, cocinando, o secándome el pelo, y de repente oigo un sonido suave que es una mezcla entre un ligero maullido y un rugido.  Y es Rufus que me está provocando dándose vueltas de un lado a otro, para que yo le diga cosas y le haga mimos.

Sometimes, when I am busy cooking or drying my hair, I hear a muffled sound that is something in between a meow and a soft roar.  It is Rufus that is calling my attention, rolling up to one side and then to the opposite side demanding my petting and caressing.

Lucas en la Portería de Fútbol

A Lucas le encanta jugar con las pelotillas y juguetes que le lanzo al sofá, como si fuera un portero de fútbol intentando hacer paradas.

En esta ocasión publico dos vídeos con el mismo tema.  Uno más dinámico y a cámara rápida.  El otro contiene la misma escena pero a cámara lenta, donde se ven los movimientos elegantes de este felino.

Lucas loves to catch the little balls and toys I throw at  him when he is on the sofa, as if he is the goalkeeper trying to stop the shots from his opponents.

In this occasion, there are two clips with the same theme.  One of them is more dynamic and in fast motion.  The other clip contains the same scene in slow motion, where you can appreciate the elegant movements of this feline.
